Introducing

The Arrowsmith Program

A revolutionary method of education rooted in neuroscientific research that enables students with learning disabilities to overcome their challenges with mental strength training rather than work-arounds.

Saint Stephen School offers a unique approach to education for students with learning disabilities. We are one of 30 sites nationwide currently offering this program and have had families move to West Michigan to take advantage of this life changing program! Arrowsmith helps students become confident, self-directed learners.

Arrowsmith can help with:

Dyslexia

Dysgraphia

Dyscalculia

Auditory Memory

Visual Memory

Auditory Processing

Non-verbal Learning

Executive Functioning

Logical Reasoning

Attention Difficulties

I don’t think that he would be where he is now without Arrowsmith. He just couldn’t read, he couldn’t spell. His memory was terrible. Arrowsmith allowed him to achieve and feel good about himself. Don’t ever write your kids off. Don’t ever think that they can’t be someone. They can, and Arrowsmith can help them do that.

How Arrowsmith Works

Based on neuroscience research, the program addresses learning disabilities by identifying and strengthening weak cognitive capacities.

Most programs for students with learning disabilities focus on teaching compensatory skills or strategies, or makes changes in content to be mastered. Instead the Arrowsmith Program focuses on rebuilding the learning capacity of the student by repairing or creating new pathways in the brain.

The Arrowsmith Founder on TEDx

Watch the founder of the Arrowsmith program talk about her fundamentally different approach to education on her TEDx Talk.

A great example of what brain training can achieve. Since her childhood, she suffered from several severe mental disabilities. But she did not give up. Instead she invented her own method to rewire her brain and make the healthy parts of her brain perform the functionality that the damaged ones cannot do.

The Arrowsmith Process

Implementing the Arrowsmith program into an individual child’s education is managed in a four-step process. This process helps us ensure that the child’s learning plan is customized to them, and if they are experiencing any issues, we can work them out early in the process.

01

DIAGNOSTICS

Arrowsmith begins with a diagnostic customized to your student’s needs. This diagnostic test is rooted in psychological neuroscience, and it is meant to help discover which learning pathways in the brain need adaptive cognitive retraining.

02

CUSTOM PLAN

Once we have completed the diagnostic assessment, we will create a learning plan that is designed to fit your student’s individual needs. Each learning plan is designed to be results-oriented, action-oriented, and measurable.

03

DEVELOPMENT

Each learning plan takes 2-3 years to implement. Having a long-term plan with a clear vision helps us to make sure we can make measurable changes in your student’s confidence and cognition.

04

CHECK-IN

Every learning plan needs to be adjusted along the way to be as effective as possible. We work with your student every day, so we will make observations and keep you updated along the way, but an annual diagnostic helps us to ensure we are on track. Great results come from measurement and optimization, and we believe in your child’s ability to succeed!

Enrolling is Easy

The Saint Stephen community is committed to partnering with parents in the whole person formation of their child. Virtue and character formation is integrated into our school culture and our instructional pedagogy respects the developmental stage of the child. Our small class sizes allow our dedicated teachers to provide the instruction, attention, and guidance necessary to help students reach their full potential.
