Pledges

Pledge gifts are encouraged for Msgr. Alt Annual Fund. These pledges are payable to St. Stephen before June 30 of any given fiscal year.

Capital campaign pledges, payable over three to five years, can be used to increase the size of a gift, spread out contributions, and assist the school in planning for the future. Pledges must be made in writing.

Stock

Some donors have stock that have appreciated over time and would rather donate these instead of cash to the school. These gifts are unique in that the donor can take a federal tax deduction for the full, fair market value of the stock, regardless of how much the donor paid for the stock. No capital gains taxes apply.

Planned Gifts

A number of planned gift vehicles exist for donors to make gifts to a charity over time. Some of these include gifts of life insurance, bequests, remainder trusts and other annuities. Many unique and beneficial tax advantages can be gained through these gifts.

Matching Gifts

With matching gifts you can sometimes double or even triple your gift! Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees.

Education First Program

Your support of this fundraiser is essential. It takes approximately $15,000 each year to cover our programming costs.

This annual fundraiser is a fundraiser for the Home & School Board and our sponsored activities. While some families may be unfamiliar with our work behind the scenes in the school, the Home & School Board is responsible for many student-oriented and community-building events that take place in the school.

Education First is our fundraiser to support these programs. Additionally, we choose one school improvement project each year to support and tithe to Saint Stephen Church.

Monsignor Alt Annual Fund

Mission

In 1966, Monsignor Edward Alt was appointed the fifth pastor of Saint Stephen Parish; it was under his direction that Saint Stephen School became the first integrated Catholic School in the Grand Rapids area. A Saint Stephen School education is an education for every child, and we are grateful for Monsignor Alt’s commitment to the truth that every child is made in the image of God and destined for communion with God.

The Monsignor Alt Annual Fund provides annual support to Saint Stephen School, a premier Catholic school in West Michigan, recognized for its faith formation, academic excellence and commitment to diversity. Saint Stephen School prepares students to become insightful thinkers and lifelong learners, who faithfully do God’s work as citizens of the world.

Purpose

The Monsignor Alt Fund is a community-wide effort to support Saint Stephen School. By giving to the fund you inspire others to give; together, our gifts have a powerful impact in the lives of our students, families and staff each year.

The Alt Fund directly benefits our students through tuition assistance and helps Saint Stephen School meet its standards of excellence by providing funds for textbooks and instructional supplies, classroom upgrades, professional development, building repair and more. This vital support allows Saint Stephen School to fulfill its mission to equip students for a lifetime of learning, leadership, and service.
